Evelyn Scheel Eggert, age 90, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Thursday, June 13, 2013 at her home in Mathis. She was the daughter of Herbert H. and Lena Scheel and was born November 26, 1922 in Helotes. She was a wonderful homemaker and a loving wife and mother, and was a founding member of Grace Lutheran Church; a key organizer of the Mathis Public Library; past President of the Mathis ISD School Board; and a member of the Literary Club of Mathis. She is survived by her daughter, Carol Dinkins and her husband Bob Brown, of Houston, Texas; son, Richard L. Eggert of Mathis; son, Mark W. Eggert and wife Kimberly, of Mathis; granddaughter, Anne Briggs and husband Ernest, of Brenham, Texas; granddaughter, Amy Allen and husband Joseph, of Bellaire, Texas; grandson, Boyce Eggert, of Austin, Texas; grandson, Benjamin Eggert of Lamont, Colorado; great-grandchildren Garrett and Beck Briggs, Victoria and Nathaniel Allen, and Bentley Eggert. She was predeceased by her husband of 61 years, Edgar H. Eggert, Jr. Mr. Eggert passed away at 80 years of age on July 10, 2004 at their home in Mathis. Visitation with the family present will be 6 to 8 P.M. Monday, June 17, 2013 at Dobie Funeral Home. A funeral is scheduled for Tuesday, June 18, 2013, at 10 am at the Dobie Funeral Home, 121 N. Duval Street, Mathis, TX 78368. Lunch will be served at the Grace Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall immediately following graveside services at Cenizo Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may honor her memory with gifts to Grace Lutheran Church, the Mathis Public Library, or the Texas Parks & Wildlife Foundation for the Lake Corpus Christi State Park. Her family is grateful to Antonia Trevino for her cheerful and loving care of Mrs. Eggert, and to Barbara Burnett, who managed a multitude of her business affairs.
