Charles William Campbell passed from this life on October 1st, 2014. Bill was born on July 7th, 1927 to David T. Campbell and Electra McManus Campbell in Mercedes, Texas. After growing up in the Rio Grande valley, he joined the US Navy to fight in the Pacific theater during World War II. Following his separation from the Navy, Bill married Edna Rae Pattillo from Mercedes, Texas on June 8th, 1946. Their family was blessed with a son, Charles David Campbell; and a daughter, Cheryl Campbell Gentry. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, wife and son. Following his Naval tour of duty, Bill learned and excelled in commercial electrical construction eventually starting C.W. Campbell Electric, Inc. Bill’s love was for his family and we are the ones who will miss him the most: Cheryl and Ed Gentry; Monica, Lance, Connor and Christina Cooper; Marion and Zachary Gentry; Carrie Lynn and Tabitha Campbell, and Brett Paul Strunk. A worship service to celebrate Bill’s life and ‘home-going’ was held at Lake View Baptist Church, in Mathis, Texas (where he was a deacon) on Saturday, October 4th, with the burial following at the Cenizo Hill cemetery.
