Rosario Medina Garcia, age 76, of Mathis, Texas died Tuesday November 25, 2014. He was born in Turkey, Texas on October 7, 1938 and was the first born child of Jose and Maria Garcia. Rosario was preceded in death by his son Froylan Z. Garcia, his parents Jose M. and Maria M. Garcia, four sisters, Beatriz M. Garcia, Natividad G. Olivarez, Martina G. Zamora and Cruz G. Zamora. Survivors include his wife Alicia Zamora Garcia and three daughters, Belma G. (David) Martinez of Mathis, Delia G. (Larry) Rodriguez of Victoria and Patricia Z. (Bill Rivas) Garcia of Beeville. He had eight grandchildren, Justine Sablatura, Belinda Olivarez, Krystal Martinez, Lance Rodriguez, Ethan Rodriguez, Ramiro Martinez, Jr., Trey Martinez and Derrik Garcia along with 11 great grandchildren. Rosario left behind six brothers and four sisters, Fidel (Nina) Garcia of Mathis, Andres (Andrea) Garcia of Mathis, Jose (Rosa) Garica of Corpus Christi, Jesus (Susan) Garcia of Victoria, Jorge Luis (Celia) Garcia of Mathis, Fernando (Irma) Garcia of Sandia, Barbarita (Adolfo) Leija of Mathis, Susan Sanchez of Mathis, Consuelo Ramirez of Mathis and Maria Rodriguez of Mathis, along with many nieces and nephews. Rosario was a devoted member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He served his faith community through his ministry Crescimento, he supprted the Church as a Knight of Columbus, his voice shared the word of God as he was a spanish lector, he worked in the church kitchen for bingos, he helped to keep the church building and grounds clean as well as greeted his christian family as an usher at 10:00 a.m. Mass. With all these dedications to this church he was entrusted with locking the church for 25 years, a responsibility he proudly cherished. Rosario was also a loyal friend to his numerous pets throughout the years most recently his beloved dogs "Buster" and "Minnie". A rosary will be recited Sunday Nov. 30, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Mathis. Mass will be celebrated Monday Dec. 1, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. also at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Descanso
