Thurman Lee Williams

Thurman Lee Williams, age 81, years died on March 7, 2015. He is the son of Gerald and Carolyn Williams. He was born on January 19, 1934 in Yoakum, Texas. He was preceded in death by sister Elaine (Koym)McMullen and two brothers (infant) Walter Carrol and Robert Gerald (Esther) Williams. He is survived by a sister Mary Ann (Chivers) Stassney and brother Kent Williams plus several nephews and nieces and wife Doris Williams of Mathis, Texas. He was owner of several construction companies and operator of heavy equipment. He graduated from Gregory-Portland High School in 1952 and Del Mar Colege in 1954. He was the first named Park Ranger of the State of Texas in 1963 and was given the Governor's Citation in 1961 for aiding Hurricane Carla refugees at Bastrop-Buescher State Parks. He said he always felt the Weight of God's Hand on his shoulder. Cremation will follow and no services are planned.
