Andrew E. Meyer Jr., 81, died Sunday, June 4, 2017 in his home in Lagarto, TX Andy to his friends – Buddy to his siblings was born and raised in Mabelvale, Arkansas. Andy was preceded in death by his parents, Thelma McBride and Andrew Meyer, Sr. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, DeOtta Turner Meyer, his daughter Kimberly (Glen) Clark of San Antonio, TX, his stepson Frank (Beth) Cervenka of Tomball, TX, step daughter Judy (Michelle) Cervenka of Rosharon, TX. Andy is also survived by his brother David (Lucille) Meyer of Lufkin and his sister Karen Hajek of Sequin, TX along with and 5 nieces and nephews, and 10 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Andy grew up on a dairy farm in Mabelvale Arkansas surrounded by a large extended family of 10 aunts and uncles and graduated from Sundeen High school, in Corpus Christi, TX. During the Korean conflict Andy joined the U.S. Army where he taught others how operate a variety of vehicles. In the early 60’s he worked in construction including the building of Spohn Hospital. Over the following years he, his brother and father owned an Enco service station and later they owned and operated the West Side Garage. In later years, after relocating to San Antonio, he traveled cross country in an 18-Wheeler hauling for companies like Montgomery Ward and Walmart. Andy moved to Lagarto in 1999 where he helped with the volunteer fire department holding a position with the board of directors for a few of years. He and his wife Dottie traveled for several years during retirement until he fell ill in 2014. Visitation will be on Thursday June 8 from 6:30 unil 8:00 p.m. At Dobie Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Friday June 9 at Dobie Funeral Home. Military burial will be Monday June 12 at 11:00 a.m. at the Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery in Corpus Christi.
