Melquiades R. Cortez

Melquiades R. Cortez, age 85, died July 23, 2017. He was born Feb. 28, 1932 in Beeville, Texas to Paulino and Severina Cortez. He is survived by his wife Juliana Cortez of Mathis, two daughters Seferina Moreno and Estella Ruiz both of Mathis, three sisters, Dolores Estrada, Rosa Gonzales and Maria Garcia all of Lamesa, Texas; five brothers Pedro Cortez of Robstown, Texas, Arnulfo Cortez of Houston, Texas, Alberto Cortez of Sinton, Texas, George Garcia of Lamesa, Texas and David Garcia of Austin, Texas, 5 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. July 27 at Dobie Funeral Home Chapel. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. July 28 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Mathis. Burial will follow in Cenizo Hill Cemetery.
