Allan Edward Tureson was born October 3, 1938 at the Kittson County Veteran’s Hospital in Hallock, Minnesota. His parents Eddie W. Tureson and G. Elaine Tureson. Allan was the eldest of four children: two brothers Larry E. Tureson and James E. Tureson, and one sister, Betty J. Ness.
Allan passed away on August 1, 2024 after a long battle with cancer. Allan graduated from Hallock High School on June 6, 1956 and entered the United States Army on June 26, 1956. He had several ranks from private to Major and retired from the Army on March 31, 1977. He served several times in Vietnam during the Vietnam War and had many good Vietnamese friends that served with him. After the war, he was honored to have sponsored two of his favorite families from Vietnam and they were always a part of his family. Allan enjoyed visiting with these families and was very proud of all they accomplished after becoming citizens of this great country. Allan was also very proud to have served with some of the finest men that ever put on a uniform and was always proud to wear the Green Beret. Allan loved to hunt and fish, especially with his two brothers.
Allan was married in August of 1961 to Hildred Kennedy and became the proud father of a son, Larry Allan, and two daughters, Rickie Ann and Jaqueline Anne. This marriage ended in divorce in 1965. When Allan sponsored the two Vietnamese families in 1975, he met the love of his life, Jeannie Hoang, and they were married in 1979. They adopted one son, Timothy.
After retiring from the Army, Allan worked in the oil field business out of Houston, Texas from 1978 until he fully retired in 1999. Upon retirement, Allan and Jeannie moved back to Hallock where Timothy graduated from Kittson Central High School. In 2002, Allan and Jeannie lived in a beautiful lake house on Lake Vermilion, Minnesota. In 2007, they moved back to Portland, Texas to be close to medical facilities for treating Allan’s cancer.
Allan is survived by his wife Jeannie, loved one Holly; his children, Larry, Rickie (Burt) and Jacqueline (Dan); his grandchildren, Jenna (Dustin), Andrea, Kennedy, Luke, Kasey, Jessica (Stephen), Danielle (Matthew), and Jean (James).
