Alvaro M. Lopez

Alvaro M. Lopez was a caring husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He left this world suddenly on September 24, 2023 at age 90. He was born to Jose and Guadalupe Lopez on February 17, 1933 in Gregory. He was preceded in death by his wife of over 50 years, Manuela Lopez. He was loved by so many. He was a pillar of the community. He served as an usher for the church for many years, bingo committee, and the food bank. He was also a veteran. He will always be known for his wave and warm smile sitting proudly in his front yard. He was always laughing and joking about his personal nurse Isis. It was always laughter and smiles with him. We knew we were loved. He will truly be missed.

He is survived by 1 brother and 5 sisters; his kids Irma (Armando) Hernandez, Eduardo (Gina) Lopez, Rene Lopez, Fred (Becky) Lopez, Alvaro Jr.(Elida) Lopez, Ricky (Christina) Lopez, Celia Lopez, Veronica Lopez, Anna (Jose) Garcia, Martha (Tony) Trevino; 27 grandchildren; 66 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00p.m. Thursday, September 28, 2023 at Winsteads’ Funeral Home followed by the rosary at 7:00 p.m. A short visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. with the funeral mass to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Friday, September 29, 2023 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Gregory. Interment to follow at the Gregory Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Pete Lopez, Leo Garza, Jr., Cornelio Hernandez, Cornelio Hernandez, Jr., Joshua Lopez and Thomas Lopez.
