Annette Olson

Annette “Tina” Olson passed away on May 20, 2018. She was born August 1, 1924 to Davine and Petrus Van Leeuwen of the Netherlands. Tina was preceded in death by her husband of 32 years, Donald Leo Olson, a former Navy Seabee. Don died in 1986. He had been born and raised in Yakima, WA. While living in Yakima, Tina worked for the Northern Pacific Railroad as roundhouse clerk. In 1960, the family moved to Portland, TX. Both Don and Tina worked for ASARCO in Corpus Christi, TX. Tina retired after 24 years.

 In 1997, her beloved daughter Jeri Wilhelmina Seeley passed away. Jeri was survived by her daughter Teresa (Tam) and their four daughters, Melissa, Camille, Temple, and Lauren. The family resides in Mason, OH. Jeri’s son, Robert Douglas Hardin who was in the Army, lived in Portland, TX until his death. Rob’s daughter Kayla (Jake) has two sons, Jacob and Dylan. Rob’s oldest son Robert Douglas, Jr. was in the Marine Corps. His youngest son, Ryan, lives in New Jersey.

Tina’s sister and forever best friend, Johanna “Jeri” Park, worked with Tina at the Netherlands Embassy in Washington D.C. during WWII. Jeri’s son Rob Roy Park (Paula) lives in Vallejo, CA with their two sons Flint and Spencer. The two sisters were always so proud of their late brother Major Charles Van Leeuwen. His children were always close to Tina’s heart, Becky Stewart (Mike), Billy and David Van Leeuwen, Terri Cross and Leanne.

Tina mourned the death of her son Chuck Olson who passed away in 2013, leaving behind his daughter Heather Olson. Heather is a member of the U.S. Air Force and is stationed in Cheyenne, WY. Chuck was a devoted and loving son and father.

Tina and Don’s youngest son, Donald Gunnard Olson, lives in Corpus Christi, TX with Sharla Dalton. His children are Reta Brown (Jason) and their two sons Kevin and Ethan. Don’s son Donald Gunnar Olson, resides in Portland, TX and has one daughter, Brooklyn.

Tina is also survived by many relatives in the Netherlands.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 – 7:00 PM Monday May 28, 2018 at Limbaugh Funeral Home. A chapel service will be at 10:00 AM on Tuesday May 29, 2018 at Limbaugh Funeral Home.  Burial to follow in Palms Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
