Antonia P. Perez

Antonia Pardo Perez, aged 94, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Friday, April 12, 2024.  Born on October 17, 1929 in Goliad Tx.  Antonia was preceded in death by the father of her 8 children Macario V Perez and her beloved son Robert Perez.  Antonia leaves behind a legacy of love.  She is survived by her children Esteban (Margarita) Perez, Rosa (Juan) Reyes, Gloria (Martin) Guzman, Macario (Corina) Perez, Bidal (Yolanda) Perez, Mary Ann Perez, Elizabeth (Juan) Cruz and her cherished 17 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandson.

 To know Antonia Perez is to have the highest admiration for her.  A woman of principle, courage and strength.  Always firm for what she believed in and it is from her that we have learned to stay strong.  Although she was more than just a strong figure she was also the essence of warmth and unconditional love.  We all share so many memories filled with smiles, compassion and laughter.  From being scolded to put a jacket on anytime it was below 70 degrees outside to never leaving her home with an empty stomach.  What we remember best are not really the grand things but all the tiny yet necessary bits of a person’s whole.  She overlooked our faults, encouraged our dreams and praised our every success.

Family is the center of all else.    She welcomed everyone with open arms and at that moment you would instantly be inducted into the family forever.  While our family stands deeply grieved by the loss of one of the pillars in our family we are also thankful for the blessing to have had her.

 It is a privilege to know someone as remarkable as she.  I believe it would suffice to say that having her as a mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother, aunt, sister and friend was a monumental experience in our lives.

 Visitation will be held Wednesday, April 17, 2024 from 3:00 – 7:00 p.m. with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. at Winsteads’ Funeral Home in Portland. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, April 18, 2024 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church  with interment to follow at the Gregory Cemetery.
