Avis June Shultz

Avis June Shultz, 97, passed away on January 25, 2014 after a brief illness.

Mrs. Shultz and family moved from Oklahoma to Portland, Texas the summer of 1959. She was a teacher with the Gregory-Portland School district at T.M. Clark Elementary and later at East Cliff Elementary for 20 years.

She was born in Berry County, Missouri to John C. Siddall and Bessie (Scrimager) Siddall on July 01, 1916. She obtained her teaching degree at East Central College in Ada, Oklahoma. 

Mrs. Shultz had been a resident of the Trisun Assisted Living/Nursing facility in Portland since June of 2004 under excellent care by their staff.
Mrs. Shultz was preceded in death by her husband Charles Royal Shultz in 1984. She is survived by her son John Charles Shultz and daughter-in-law Jean Shultz of Corpus Christi.

Per Mrs. Shultz's wishes, there will be no viewing or funeral home service. There will be a brief service held at her grave site in Palms Memorial Gardens cemetery on Midway Road at 1:00 P.M., Thursday, January 30, 2014.

In lieu of flowers or other remembrances the family suggests that contributions be made in her name to the local animal care facilities such as The Cattery in Corpus Christi, or the local Humane Society.
