Barbara Lee Leber

Barbara Lee Leber, age 91, a local retired teacher died on August 2, 2022 at Palma Real Nursing Facility in Mathis, Texas.

Barbara was born to William Homer Hendricks and Corinne Hehn Hendricks in San Antonio, Texas, August, 12, 1930.

Barbara grew up in Mathis, Texas. Graduated Mathis High School and attended Southwest Texas State Teachers College in San Marcos, Texas

She worked as bookkeeper for Beall Chevrolet and Stone Brothers Ford dealerships in Mathis.  In 1953, Barbara married Walter Leber Jr. With that new relationship, Barbara gained a daughter, Joyce Eileen Leber.  She and Joyce shared the loss of their mothers which became a divine purpose in their relationship.  Walter and Barbara celebrated 52 years together before Walter's death in October of 2005.

Barbara graduated Texas A & I Kingsville.  She fulfilled her calling as a teacher in the school system in which she grew up.  She loved living on the farm and being a successful farmer's wife and an elementary school teacher.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and one brother, William H. Hendricks Jr., and his wife Doris. One sister, Mary Ann Klepac and her husband, Frank.

Barbara is survived by Joyce Eileen Knolle (A.W.). Barbara is also survived by a granddaughter, Lanie Westman (Rob) and her great-grandsons, Josh (Allison) and Jess Westman.  Barbara was blessed to have many friends and acquaintances along the way.  She enjoyed getting together with her nieces and nephews, and her bestfriend since kindergarten, Nancy Nelson.

Any honorariums may be made to 1st Baptist Church, Mathis, or South Texas Children's home, Beeville, in Barbara's memory

Memorial Service for Mrs. Leber will be at 10:00 am on Saturday, September 3, 2022 at Dobie Funeral Home.
