Betty A Kurtz, age 97 passed peacefully at Harbor Hospice in Portland, TX on February 20, 2025.
She is survived by two children, Linda Doss of Sinton, TX and Michael Kurtz of Bluffton, SC. She had 5 grandchildren, Katherine Barsch, Jacob Morgan, Joseph Morgan, Jillian Williams, Amy Larson, 11 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
She was proceeded in death by her husband Robert and 14 brothers and sisters, Maybelle McBride, Chester Gay, Frank Gay, Wanetta Gay, John Gay, Georgie Marsh, Paul Gay, Eugene Gay, Herbert Gay, Levon Gay, Doris Rarrat, Larry Gay, Sharon Fulcher, and William Gay.
Betty loved her family and friends and told beautiful stories with vivid memories that had her family endeared to so many. She also had a faithful companion in her dog Prissy and they were nearly inseparable for the last 7 years. Betty was born in Goshen Indiana and moved to Greeley, Colorado in 1967. They moved from Greeley to Dunlap, Indiana, then in 2001 bought their final home in Mathis, TX. She taught Sunday school for many years and loved working with children. Betty worked many years of her life starting at Ludwig drum factory, Chicago Telephone Corp, and for many years for Albertsons Bakery. She and Bob loved to travel and fish throughout the country and also had many friends that they made while traveling. She is now at peace with the Lord she knew so well and will be sorely missed by those of us she leaves behind.
