Bobby Dwain Jones

Bobby Dwain Jones, born on February 28,1948, in Ft. Worth, Texas, peacefully passed away on Saturday, July 08, 2023, at the age of 75. He had been a member of the Frank Tejeda Veterans Home in Floresville, Texas for 8 ½ years. The Veterans Home was very good to him. They loved him and took excellent care of him. For the last 3 months Gentiva Hospice had also been caring for him. They also took the best of care too. He was a deeply cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, and Friend. Bobby was a man of integrity and honor. He dedicated 20 years of his life to serving his country as a Senior Chief Petty Officer (SCPO) E-8 in the U.S. Navy, specializing in fuels. His commitment to duty and service was unwavering, and he earned the respect and admiration of his fellow servicemen. In his civilian life, Bobby found fulfillment in his career. After retiring from the Navy in 1987, he worked for Grumman and Lockheed at the Chase Base in Beeville. He also worked as a Correctional Officer for 13 years. He loved his family who survives him. His wife, Lesley; daughter, Jinnah Jones Green (Nate), Bobby Jarrett, (Anna), His son. Sara Jude was originally his granddaughter by his daughter, Stephanie, who died in 2015, Bobby adopted Sara in 2012, when she was 7, and his grandson Liam Jones Brown. Bobby was also survived by his mother-in-law, Minta Riddle; Sisters, Jan Guthrie and Sheri Clinkenbeard and two brother-in-laws, Jerry Guthrie and Chris (Anne) Riddle. He will also be greatly missed by numerous Nieces and Nephews. Despite the challenges he faced in his later years he remained resilient. As a 100% disabled veteran, he battled various Agent Orange Diseases, including arteriosclerosis, atherosclerosis, multiple myeloma cancer, diabetes and COPD. Throughout it all, his faith never wavered. Bobby was also predeceased by his father, Olon O Jones, his mother Velda Gaskill Raifsnider, and his sister Mary Anne. A Viewing will be held at Dobie Funeral Home on Tuesday, July 18, 2023 at 6:00 pm till 9:00 pm. Graveside Service will be at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, July 19, 2023 at Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery.
