Brigida Sabedra

Brigida Lara Sabedra Oct.8, 1931 - February 26, 2024

Brigida entered heaven and joined her beloved husband, Preciliano (Percy) Sabedra, of 62 years, on February 26, 2024.

 She was born on October 8, 1931, in Corpus Christi, TX. Brigida was a homemaker but briefly worked as a teacher's aide with the Gregory Portland ISD. Brigida dedicated her life to her family and Catholic faith. She was a lifelong parishioner of the Immaculate Conception Church and an active member of various organizations. Brigida and Preciliano lived in a home they built together, where they raised five children. After her husband's retirement, they enjoyed multiple travels as members of the Knights of Columbus and his World War II Battalion reunions.

Brigida was preceded in death by her parents, Valente and Jesusa Lara, and sisters, Theresa Leal, Anastasia, and Elena Lara. Brigida is survived by her only brother Bene Lara Sr., her five children, Nelda S. Garcia (Gilbert), Oscar Roel Sabedra (Barbara), Rene Horace Sabedra (Barbara), Ida S. Garcia (Frank), and Vanessa S. Ashcraft (Mark), and four grandchildren:  Jeremy Garcia (Kim), Isabella Sabedra, Matthew Sabedra, and Marissa Sabedra and numerous nieces, and nephews.

 The visitation will be held at Winsteads' Funeral Home, 500 Wildcat Drive, Portland, TX on March 1, 2024, from 5-8 pm, with rosary to follow at 8:00 p.m.

 A Catholic Mass will be celebrated at Immaculate Conception Church in Gregory TX at 10 am on March 2, 2024, with burial to follow at the cemetery in Gregory, TX.
