Portland, TX - Charles Petty, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and devout Servant of the Lord, passed away peacefully on January 17, 2025, just shy of his 85th birthday.

Born on February 22, 1940, in Marshall, Texas, Charles dedicated his life to his family and his faith. He leaves behind a remarkable legacy of love, commitment, and service.

Charles was a petroleum refinery engineer by trade, dedicating his entire career to the industry. His expertise and commitment earned him respect and admiration from his colleagues.

In addition to his professional accomplishments, Charles served in the Army. He was on active duty from 1964 to 1967 and continued to serve as a Reservist until 2000 when he retired with the rank of Colonel. Throughout his military service, he received various medals recognizing his dedication and contributions to his country.

Charles is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Olaine; his sons, Colin (Brenda) and Robert (Mindy); his daughter, Megan (Joe Brown); and his cherished grandchildren, Chase Petty, Caylor Petty, Addolyn Petty, Olivia Brown, and Molly Brown. He is also survived by two sisters and nieces and nephews whom he loved and adored. His devotion to his family was unparalleled, and he was a constant source of wisdom, support, and strength for all who knew him.

Charles was known for his unwavering faith and dedication to his community. As a devoted Servant of the Lord, he touched many lives with his kindness, generosity, and belief in the goodness of others. His gentle spirit and compassionate heart will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to know him.

In celebrating Charles's life, we remember the countless moments of joy, laughter, and love that he shared with his family and friends. His memory will live on in our hearts forever.

A memorial service will be held to honor Charles's life and legacy. The memorial service will be held at Winsteads’ Funeral Home in Portland, Texas, on Saturday, January 25, 2025, at 2:00pm.
