Claude Frances Hamon, 83, was born on October 1, 1927 to William and Lorlie Hamon in Van Alstyne, Texas. Claude entered heavens gates on September 18, 2011 after a lengthy illness. Claude married Carolyn Miller on December 11, 1952. Three children were born to them. They were married for 55 years before she passed away in 2008. Claude and Carolyn spent most of their married life in Portland, Texas. Claude proudly served his country and the end of World War II (Army) and the Korean War (Air Force). Claude worked for Jones & Laughlin Continental Emsco and LTV Energy, as an oil field salesman for a combined 38 years. As a field salesman he was on-call 24 hours a day and was always there when his customers needed him. After retirement he enjoyed watching the loves of his wife (his grandchildren) play volleyball, baseball, and football every chance he got. He truly was a man with a heart of gold and his family loved him dearly. He is survived by three sons Paul Hamon (Margaret) of Victoria, Texas, Greg Hamon and Eric Hamon (D'Ann) both of Portland, Texas; four grandchildren Rachel and Allison Hamon of Victoria, Texas, Blane and Sage Hamon of Portland, Texas; a brother Bill Hamon (Elaine) of Tyler, Texas; 2 nieces Diane Blasingame of Houston, Texas, Susan Scoggins of Tyler, Texas.
Viewing for family and friends will be held at 9:30 AM Wednesday, September 21, 2011 at St. Stephen Lutheran Church in Portland, Texas with funeral services to be conducted at 10:00 AM that same morning. Interment to follow at Palms Memorial Gardens.
