David A. Anglin of Portland, TX, born November 5, 1957 passed away July 5, 2024 after a brief illness. David was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Lynn Brooks, DVM, and parents Cecil and Dorothy Anglin. He is survived by his daughter Shelby L. Anglin of Detroit Ml, sisters Lynda Gayle Medina of San Antonio, Nita L. Anglin-Garcia (Gilbert) of Portland, brother Glenn W. Anglin (Rose) of San Antonio, TX, and numerous nieces and nephews.
David will be remembered for his gift of storytelling, his welcoming smile and his generosity to everyone he met. He was always quick to make you laugh, and stubborn to a fault. His lasting charm was self-evident as neighbor after neighbor stopped by his home to offer their condolences. David loved working with his hands and could often be found working on a project right on the dinner table. He taught himself to break down and repair motorcycles first as a hobby, then to help out his friends. At the time of his departing, he was working on not one, but three different motorcycles at the same time. Prior to retiring, he took over Anglin Sign Company from his father and was one of only a few neon-sign glass blowers in the area.
A Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, July 16, 2024 at 6:30 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church, 4545 Wildcat Dr., Portland, Texas 78374.
