Derek Powell

Derek Powell, age 42, went suddenly to be with the Lord on January 30, 2024.  Derek was born February 12, 1981 in Alice, Texas to Connie Longoria and Michael Powell.

 He graduated from Agua Dulce High School and Texas A&M Kingsville.  Derek worked in the grain business in Alice and Banquete for 15 years.  Derek deeply loved his family.  He always enjoyed hunting and outdoor activities with Beck and Ben and coaching their sports team.  

He will be dearly missed by his wife of 15 years, Mandee Meischen Powell; two sons, Beck and Ben; his mother Connie Longoria and father Mike Powell.  

Derek’s funeral service will be held at First Lutheran Church in Orange Grove, Texas at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, February 5, 2024.  Graveside service will follow at Sons of Herman Cemetery in Orange Grove, Texas.  

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to First Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 605, Orange Grove, Texas 78372.  Arrangements are entrusted to Dobie Funeral Home in Mathis, Texas.
