Ernesto Z. DeLeon Sr.

Ernesto Z. DeLeon Sr. went home to our Heavenly Father on Saturday, February 10, 2024, in Mathis, Texas. He was born on May 18, 1936, in Tynan, Texas to Bernardo and Gregorea Zamora DeLeon. Preceded in death by both of his Parents; Wife Maria M. DeLeon; Sons Armando and Abel Deleon; Sister Belia Vasquez; 4 Brothers Roberto, Pedro, Ricardo, and Raul DeLeon.

Ernesto DeLeon Sr. was a good-hearted, hard-working, caring and loving man who loved his family very much.  He married the love of his life on August 3, 1956 and they continued their journey together for the next fifty-eight years, before she gained her wings.  Together they had ten children, consisting of seven sons and three daughters.  He taught them all to be hardworking, caring, loving individuals, just as he was.

He will be dearly misses each and everyday by his family and all those that loved him.  He truly leaves a legacy behind that will be carried on not only by his own surviving children, but by his thirty-four grandchildren, sixty-four great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.

There is no doubt that his heart is full of love and joy as he has been reunited with the love of his life, two sons and other departed loves ones.  our hearts will ache for time to come, but his memories will be forever treasured in our hearts and minds.  Forever and always in our hearts!

Left to cherish Mr. DeLeon's loving memory are three Daughters Alicia (Roy) Estrada, Armandina (Robert) Martinez, Ernestina Gamez; five Sons Arturo DeLeon, Abelardo (Gloria) Deleon, Ernesto (Natasha) DeLeon Jr., Elejas (Petra) DeLeon, Erasmo (Clarissa) DeLeon; two Daughter in Laws Elda DeLeon, Lucia DeLeon; 34 Grandchildren; 64 Great-Grandchildren; 2 Great-Great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers: Jason DeLeon, Richard DeLeon, Gabriel DeLeon, Rogelio (R.J.) Estrada Jr., Justin Moreno, Christopher Rodriguez, Brandon Gamez, Evan DeLeon. 

Visitation will be at 2pm, Holy Rosary will be at 7pm on Wednesday, February 14, 2024, at Dobie Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be at 10am on Thursday, February 15, 2024, at Sacred Heart Church followed by interment to Descanso Eterno I.
