In loving memory of our sweet Mother, Espie Kientz, who peacefully passed in her home with family on December 2, 2023, at the age of 90 from a long battle with cancer. She was born on November 26, 1933, in San Antonio, TX, and her life’s journey was filled with dedication, love and support.
For 62 years, Espie called Portland, TX her home, where she nurtured her family and community. She leaves behind a legacy of devotion, cherished by her three living children, Chris Kientz of Metairie, LA; Andrea Avery of San Antonio, TX; and Fred Kientz of Rosenberg, TX. She had 6 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by immediate family, Robert E. Kientz, Reagan J. Rhyne (son) & Julian J. Bullard.
Espie’s leadership spirit shone brightly though her role as President of the Pilot Club International and as a Lifetime Member of the National Garden Club. Her commitment to these organizations exemplified her passion for serving others and cultivating beauty in the world. Her involvement in the Boy Scouts of America showcased her dedication to guiding and nurturing the next generation. As an Aransas Pass business owner for over 30 years, with her deceased husband Robert E. Kientz, many other people’s lives were impacted by her kindness and helpful nature.
In her spare time, Espie found joy in cake decorating, floral arrangements and the art of gourmet cooking and baking where her creative talents knew no bounds. Her elegant and refined nature was matched only by her kind and generous spirit. She will be remembered for her grace, creativity and her love of collecting beautiful things. Her life was a testament to the power of love, compassion, and resiliency. Her memory will forever inspire those who were touched by her presence.
Family and friends will gather to celebrate her life in San Antonio TX, Jan. 5, 2024 at 11:00 am at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, where she will rest with her husband. Reception to follow.
