Eva Angelita Rios

Portland – Eva Angelita Escamilla Rios, 80, passed away Friday, January 7, 2022. She was born July 20, 1941 in Taft, Texas to Jose Escamilla and Dominga Hinojosa Escamilla. She married her husband Regino on November 3, 1957. Eva was a devoted Catholic. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas and was faithfully committed to serving many years in prayer to the Blessed Sacrament at the OLMC Adoration Chapel. She enjoyed assisting the CCD program with the youth. Eva also enjoyed reading and listening to music, and spending family time with her loved ones.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and her son Regino “Reggie” Rios, Jr. She is survived by her husband Regino M. Rios; two daughters Lucia Rios (Alan Parker) of Portland, and Laura (Jesus) Zamora of Beeville; son Ricardo “Rick” Rios (Kathy Trahan) of Houston; her brother Jose Escamilla Jr. of Sinton; grandchildren Divina Jewl Rodriguez, Diego Rio Rodriguez, Savannah Rios, Jordan Rios, Carisa (Daniel) Young; and great-grandchildren Harper, Zander, Jasher.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 – 7:00 PM Thursday, January 13, 2022 with the Rosary to be recited at 7:00 PM at Winsteads’ Funeral Home in Portland. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM, Friday, January 14, 2022 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, 1008 Austin St, Portland, Texas with interment to follow at The Palms Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Gilbert Cortinas, Diego Rodriguez, Joe Escamilla, Ernest Escamilla, Rick Nesmith, Jesus Zamora, with Honorary Pallbearers Jordan Rios and Tony Doblado.
