Fidel Villarreal, Jr.

Fidel Villarreal, Jr., age 79, went to be with the Lord on May 1, 2023 surrounded by his loved ones.  He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Cira, his three children Irene Rapier, Lucy Rivera (Bob), Fidel III (Tara) and 5 grandchildren, Justin Rivera, Jason Rivera, Cira Rapier, Natalie Villarreal, and Lauren Villarreal.  Fidel’s great love was his family.

 Fidel was born to Fidel Villarreal Sr. and Marina Trevino Villarreal on April 1, 1944 in Portland, TX.  His sisters and brothers are Mary Lile Pena (Roger) (d), (d) Lelia Guzman (Denis), Mary Hayes (Charles), (d) Joe Villarreal (Vicki), Santos Villarreal (Lucy, d), Marina Solis (Abel), Margaret Villarreal (Manuel Costilla), Virginia Cline (Jim), Johnny Villarreal (Yolanda), Beatrice Villarreal, and Nelda Salinas (Eddie).  Fidel has numerous nieces and nephews and will be greatly missed.

Fidel was a painter by trade and worked with Brown & Root, Ingleside for over 25 years.  Fidel was a Portland native, a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend.  He was a selfless and generous man and would help anyone.

Visitation will be held at Winsteads’ Funeral Home, Portland, TX on Thursday, May 4, 2023 from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.  Rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m.  Pall bearers are Justin Rivera, Jason Rivera, Johnny Villarreal, Jr., Rocky Villarreal, Abel Solis, Jr., and Aaron Pena. 

Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 5, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, Portland, TX.  Interment will follow at Palms Memory Gardens, Portland, TX.  Celebration of Life luncheon will follow interment at the residence of Eddie and Nelda Salinas, 7000 Buddy Ganem Dr., Portland, TX.
