Gilbert Garcia Soliz

Gilbert Garcia Soliz, 68, of Mathis, Texas left this earth peacefully on January 2, 2025. He was born on February 24, 1956, in Mathis, Texas, to Jose Anastacio Soliz of Guanajuato, Mexico, and Maria Guadalupe Garcia Soliz of Mathis, Texas. Gilbert graduated from Mathis High School and went on to attend Bee County College in Beeville, Texas. He was passionate about education and instilled this value in his daughter.

Gilbert was formerly married to Minerva Rivera Chavez, and together they had one daughter, Jennifer Sue Soliz (spouse James Cashion).

Gilbert was preceded in death by his parents, Jose Anastacio Soliz and Maria Guadalupe Garcia Soliz, as well as his siblings, Pedro Soliz Sr. of Mathis, Texas, Sylvia Soliz Banda of Hollis, Oklahoma, nephew Frank Marez Jr. and niece Denise Marez both of Mathis Texas and niece Tanya Ortiz of Houston, Texas.

Gilbert is survived by his daughter, Jennifer of Houston, Texas, and his two grandchildren, Jacob H. Cashion and Belen A. Cashion.

Gilbert will be remembered for his quick sense of humor, his love for the Dallas Cowboys, and his amazing dancing ability. In his later years, Gilbert’s family is grateful that they were able to reconnect with him and create cherished memories that will forever be held close to their hearts.

Rest peacefully, Gilbert.

Visitation for Mr. Soliz will be at 11:00 am and Holy Rosary will be recited at 12:00 pm on Saturday, January 11, 2025 at Winsteads' Funeral Home in Mathis, Texas. Interment will follow at Descanso Eterno II in Mathis, Texas.
