Harriett Larkin

June 19, 1924 through December 12, 2024

Harriet McCue Larkin lived a long and full life. She was the only child of Florence and Merritt McCue who were active members of Mt. Olive Lutheran Church in St. Paul, Minnesota. Harriett was baptized and confirmed at this church and spent her childhood there. She sang in the choir, attended Bible studies, and was active in the women’s groups. In her early 20’s she joined the U.S. Navy and served as a Navy Wave during WWII in DC. She was extremely proud to be an American and loved her country. She married Charles William (Bill) Larkin in 1947 and had two children, Tim (1950) and Nancy (1952) who were also raised in the Lutheran Church. Harriett spent most of her adult life in Michigan where she taught piano and sang in the choir. Greenville, Michigan found Bill and Harriett at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church. She was the “force behind” the beautiful windows in that church. Harriett was an accomplished pianist and enjoyed spending time at the piano with daughter Nancy. Bill and Harriett moved to Corpus Christi to be near Tim, enjoy sailing, watching the ships pass by, and sunny days. In Corpus, they both enjoyed their involvement with Trinity Lutheran Church, now Our Savior Trinity. Harriett’s deep faith shown throughout her life. She leaves behind a legacy of love, faith and family, including three grandchildren (John, David and Ginny) and three great-grandchildren (son, John’s children, Jack, Charlie, and Finn).
