In Loving Memory of Hector “Buddy” Bazan

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Hector “Buddy” Bazan, a devoted husband, loving father, caring Popo, and an exceptional diesel mechanic. Hector was a man who touched the lives of many with his kindness, humor, and unshakable faith. He left us on March 18, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family, the very people who meant the world to him.

Hector was the epitome of what it means to put family first. He was a proud husband for 45 years, deeply devoted to his wife, Lile, who was his rock and greatest love. Together, they built a life filled with laughter, love, and unwavering commitment to each other. Hector’s love for his family extended to his children, Virginia Ellyson, Patricia Cortez, Paul Bazan, and Heather Bazan, and his beloved grandkids, Scarlett, Jonah, Elena, Violet, Emilia, Avren, and Mileena. They brought him immeasurable joy, and he cherished every moment with them. He was their Popo, a constant presence in their lives, always ready to lend a hand, offer guidance, and shower them with affection.

Hector poured endless love into his three daughters and son, always making sure they knew he was there for them no matter what. Whether it was giving advice, sharing a quick cup of coffee, fixing whatever needed fixing, mowing their grass, or simply sitting and talking, he was a constant and steady presence in their lives. His children never had to schedule a time to see him—his door was always open, and he was always happy to welcome them with a warm smile and an open heart. His only son carries so many of the same qualities as his father—a heart of gold, an unwavering willingness to help others, and a shared passion for his craft. His daughters, strong-willed and determined, reflected the resilience and strength he admired so much. He was incredibly proud of the women they became, not only as daughters but as devoted and loving mothers. The love and admiration he had for his children were immeasurable, and he took pride in the family he built.

Hector also held a deep love and respect for his sons-in-law, Brannen Ellyson and Raymond Cortez Jr., whom he embraced as his own. He admired their dedication to their families and the love they showed to their children. To him, they were more than just in-laws; they were men he was proud to call family. He respected their hard work, their devotion, and the way they cared for his daughters and grandchildren. He never missed a chance to express his appreciation for them, whether through words, a fist bump, or a simple nod that spoke volumes.

Hector was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Jesus and Juanita Bazan, as well as his brother Jesse Bazan and two sisters Elena Bazan and Lydia Zambrano. Though their absence was always felt, he carried their love and memories with him throughout his life. He is survived by his brothers, Ricardo, Carlos, Roland, Ivan (Sara), Larry (Idalia) and sister, Rachel, who will forever cherish the bond they shared and the countless moments of laughter, love, and support they experienced together. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews, all of whom he loved dearly. He took great joy in being an uncle, sharing his wisdom, humor, and kindness with them throughout their lives.

As a Master ASE diesel mechanic, Hector was known for his unparalleled ability to "fix it all." Whether it was an engine or a broken heart, he was the go-to man. His hands were skilled, and his mind was sharp, but it was his heart that truly made him special. He was a friend to all, always willing to offer encouragement, share a story, or lend an ear. His genuine kindness and generosity left a lasting impact on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.

Hector had a unique sense of humor that brightened every room. He was never without a funny costume or a silly story to share, and his quick wit was matched only by his creativity. He had a knack for making up his own sayings, songs, and nicknames for everyone he encountered. More than anything, he loved making his grandkids laugh. Whether it was with a goofy dance, a playful joke, or one of his many funny voices, he had a way of bringing joy and silliness into their lives. His playful spirit will forever live on in the memories of those who loved him most.

A man of deep faith, Hector was a steadfast believer in God. His faith guided him through every challenge and triumph in life, and he always found strength in prayer. He believed in kindness, love, and doing right by others, and he lived each day with those values in his heart.

Though he may no longer be with us, Hector’s legacy will live on in the stories we tell, the songs we sing, and the laughter he brought to our lives. His love for his family, his sense of humor, and his unwavering faith will continue to inspire us all. Hector will be deeply missed, but never forgotten.

Rest in peace, Hector Bazan. You were loved beyond measure, and your light will forever shine in our hearts.

"Popo, you fixed everything, and now you have fixed a place in Heaven."
