Ismael Salinas Jr., a beloved son, grandson, brother, cousin and friend, passed away on December 31, 2024, in Corpus Christi, Texas, at the tender age of 19. He was born on June 29, 2005, to Ismael Salinas Sr. and Maria Elena Trejo in Alice, Texas. Ismael was a vibrant spirit known for his warmth, talents, and deep connections to his family and community.
Ismael was an active participant in his school and community, where he proudly showcased his talents as a member of the Future Farmers of America (FFA). He was particularly recognized for his contributions to the Band, performing at the 2022 Nationals in Indianapolis, which exemplified his commitment to excellence and passion for music. Additionally, he earned the prestigious title of grand champion welder in 2023 for San Patricio County, a testament to his dedication and skill in welding.
Endearing to those around him, Ismael had a plethora of hobbies and interests. He often practiced welding with his Welo, showcasing his artistic side and technical prowess. Ismael had a special love for cooking, delighting in the creation of tamales that brought joy to family gatherings. His playful nature shone through in his treasured moments spent shopping with his sister and fishing with his brothers, memories that highlighted the close bond he shared with his family.
Ismael is survived by his mother, Maria Elena Trejo; his father, Ismael (Petra Justine) Salinas Sr; sisters, Leah May Morales and Mercedes Salinas; his brothers, Ian and Ivan Salinas; his stepsister, Juliana Vallejo. Additionally, he will be remembered fondly by maternal grandparents, Rito and Maggie Trejo; his paternal grandmother, Silveria Salinas and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins who loved him dearly.
Ismael is preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Israel Salinas Jr., and his cousin, Isabella Cumpean. Their memories will forever live on through the stories and love shared among those left behind.
Pallbearers will be Samuel Salinas Jr, Israel Salinas IV, Kalel Rodriguez, Joe Anthony Martinez, Antonio Aguilar, Justin Cruz, Derek Lee Kennemer, Gabriel Alexander Trejo.
The community and family will come together to celebrate Ismael's life during the visitation on Sunday, January 12, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 9:00 PM, with a prayer service beginning at 6:00 PM, at Winsteads' Funeral Home in Mathis, Texas. A funeral service will be held the Monday, January 13, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Winsteads' Funeral Home followed by interment at Cenizo Hill Cemetery in Mathis, Texas.
Ismael Salinas Jr.'s indomitable spirit and the love he shared with those around him will be missed profoundly but will resonate in the hearts of all who knew him.
