Iverrene Senne Johnson, 83 years old, met her Lord and Savior on Friday, May 19, 2017 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. Iverrene was born to Louis and Elva Bell Senne in Hondo, TX on July 27, 1933. Iverrene is survived by James Johnson, her husband of nearly 60 years, her daughters Sherry (Martin) Parrish and Shelly (Kevin) Pyatte, grandchildren Trent (Ashley) Pyatte, Shannon (Alan) DeLaRosa, Paige Parrish and Brooke Parrish, and great-grandchildren Trace, Hayes, and Emma. Iverrene is also survived by her sisters, Ivy Jean Freasier and Pauline (Bobby) Carey.
Iverrene graduated as valedictorian from Freer High School in 1950 and from Texas Lutheran College with a Bachelor’s in Business Administration in 1954. Iverrene went on to teach high school typing, shorthand, and office education for 25 years at Kenedy, Agua Dulce, and Moody High Schools. Besides teaching, Iverrene loved dancing, Gregory-Portland football, the Dallas Cowboys, the San Antonio Spurs, clogging, gardening, and working crossword puzzles.
Iverrene married James Johnson on May 25, 1957 in Kenedy, TX. Iverrene was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother and dearly loved her husband, daughters, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She will be missed by all of us.
Iverrene’s family would like to thank the many people that cared for Iverrene during the last few months of her life, especially our dedicated and loving Elvia along with our special Christus Spohn Hospice team. Caregivers are God’s angels on earth and we greatly appreciate the patience, understanding, and love they exhibited in caring for Iverrene.
