Janie Tamez

Janie Tamez, passed away peacefully on November 21, 2024, at the age of 74. She was born on December 18, 1949 to Juan and Manuela Rosenbaum in Mathis, Texas. Janie dedicated her life to her family and friends, always embodying kindness, love, and generosity. She was a person who thrived in the warmth of her family's presence and took great joy in spending time with them.

A devoted mother, Janie is survived by her cherished daughters, Jeannie (Joshua) Hawley, Jennifer Tamez,  Jennay (Vincent) Martinez and Jenna Tamez, and son, Jay (Mary Lou) Tamez. Janie's heart was filled with joy by her nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, who brought her immense happiness. Janie is also survived by her sisters, Betty Rivas, Elizabeth Leal, and Mary Ann Puentes, as well as her brother, Joe Rosenbaum. The love within her family was a cornerstone of her life, and she nurtured those relationships with care and devotion.

Janie is preceded in death by her Parents; Husband, Gilbert Tamez; Son, George Tamez; Brothers, David and Ruben Rosenbaum. The impact of her passing is deeply felt by all who knew her.

Visitation will be at 9:30 am and Holy Rosary will recited at 10:00 am on Monday, November 25, 2024 at Winsteads' Funeral Home in Mathis, Texas. Funeral Mass will be at 11:00 am on Monday, November 25, 2024 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Mathis, Texas followed by interment at Descanso Eterno II.

Janie Tamez will be remembered as a kind and loving individual whose family was her everything. Her spirit will continue to live on through the countless memories and love she shared with those around her.
