Javier S. Vasquez

Javier Soto Vasquez, of Portland, Texas, passed away on Friday, November 12, 2021. He went peacefully surrounded by family and love.

Javier was born in Taft, Texas on July 4, 1972 to the late Arturo Vasquez, Sr. and Tomasa Soto Vasquez. He graduated from Gregory-Portland High School in 1991. He has worked in the electrical distribution industry for over 28 years. Javier was also a licensed irrigator.

Javier was an avid fisherman. He most enjoyed spending time with his family and friends which were filled with laughter and good music, as he always wanted to be the DJ. He enjoyed watching college football, especially his Texas Longhorns. Javier was a fun, kind hearted, generous, loving person. He has also been described as a big teddy bear. He left us too soon but leaves behind so many good memories.

Javier is survived by his wife of 25 years, JoAnn Garcia Vasquez and their beautiful daughters, Victoria and Alexis Vasquez. He also leaves behind his brothers Arturo Vasquez, Jr., David (JoAnn) Vasquez, Sr., Ricardo Vasquez, and Albert Vasquez, and his sisters Esther Vasquez and Anita (Gary) Helms and many nieces and nephews and several grand-nieces and nephews and his beloved dog Lola.

The family kindly requests that all wear masks during the reflection, recitation, and funeral mass.

A time of reflection and visitation will be held at 9:30 AM, Thursday, November 18, 2021 at Immaculate Conception Church, 107 Church Gregory, TX 78359.

Recitation of the Holy Rosary will begin at 10:30 AM, following the visitation.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, November 18, 2021 at Immaculate Conception Church.

Interment will follow at Palms Memorial Gardens, 4335 County Road 3567 Portland, TX 78374.

Reception will immediately follow burial at the parish hall at Immaculate Conception Church, 107 Church Gregory, TX 78359.

Pallbearers will be Robert Pena, Jr., Ramiro Garcia, Jose Garcia, Jr., David Vasquez, Jr., Dustin Atkinson, and Tyler Bluemel.
