John Alvin Allbright, 87, of New Braunfels, Texas passed away on March 3rd. He was born on November 20, 1937 in Beeville, Texas to John Thomas (JT) Allbright and Ruby Holton Allbright.
He is survived by his son Clay Allbright (Marsha), his daughter Lori Allbright Hughes (David), his son Richard Allbright (Kim) and their mother Gayle Thompson, as well as five grandchildren: Logan Allbright, Cole Allbright (Laura), Rebecca Hughes, Cameron Allbright, John Hughes, and three great-grandchildren: Marshall Allbright, Hayden Allbright, and Isabelle Allbright, along with several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by two stepdaughters Cindy Tracy (Phil) and Tracy Minter (Jason), daughters of his second wife Jeanine Hoke.
He was preceded in death by his parents JT Allbright (Lois) and Ruby Holton Purselley (Aubrey), and brother Thomas Allbright (Frances).
Alvin was a quiet but social man who loved family and friends, anything mechanical, restoring and showing classic cars, music and dancing, animals and ranching, but most of all helping both friends and strangers in need. He had a 25-year career with Coastal Oil and Gas Corporation where he advanced to Supervisor for the refinery’s Cat Cracker and Alkylation units.
Pall Bearers will be Cole Allbright, John Hughes, David Hughes, Wyatt Priest and Kenneth McDonald.
Family and friends are invited to a funeral service on Monday, March 10, 2025 at 2pm, at Winsteads’ Funeral Home (formally Dobie Funeral Home) in Mathis, Texas. A burial will follow at Cenizo Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or a Hospice of your choice.
