Dr. John Curtis Longacre, D.O. 87, of Portland, TX died March 4, 2012 at his home. A native of Kutztown, PA, he was born September 28, 1925, to the late Charles and Ada (Kratzer) Longacre and moved to the Corpus Christi area in 1974 from Norristown, PA. Dr. Longacre was raised in Pottstown, PA and attended The Hill School. After attending Princeton University, he graduated from Philadelphia School of Osteopathy. He was on staff at Riverview Osteopathic and Suburban General Hospitals, both of Norristown, PA. After relocating to the Corpus Christi area Dr. Longacre was on staff at Doctors Regional Hospital in Corpus Christi, TX and Chief of Staff at Columbia Northbay Hospital in Aransas Pass, TX. Dr. Longacre was preceded in death by his wife Michelle W. Longacre in 2007 and sister Caroline in 1963.
Survivors include his dog and best buddy, Mike; two daughters, Lorraine S. Brown-Zbranek (Kenny) of Temple, TX, and Christine (Ron) Rycek of Collegeville, PA; son, John C. (Cindy) Longacre Jr. of Lecanto, FL; five grandchildren; and brother James H. Longacre of Somerset, NJ. Dr. Longacre's wishes were to be cremated and no services be held.
