Juan Jose "John" Chavez

Juan J. Chavez Jr., age 67, our beloved husband, brother, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, and friend, passed away on Saturday November 30, 2013, in Portland, Texas. John was born on February 22, 1946 to Juan and Hortencia Chavez.
John graduated from Taft High School in 1965. He served in the Air Force from 1965-1969 during the Vietnam War. He was employed by E.I. DuPont - Ingleside, Texas for 30 years until he retired in 2003. John enjoyed fishing and watching baseball, football, and basketball. He was a Taft Greyhound and GP Wildcat supporter for over 40 years. He also enjoyed his monthly breakfast with his fellow DuPont retirees and spending time with his wife and family. John will always be remembered for his quick-wit, his love of family, and strong faith.
John is met in Heaven by his parents, Juan and Hortencia Chavez. He is survived by his wife of 46 years Ernestina "Tina"; daughter Lorrie Lucio (Raul) and son Christopher Chavez; two granddaughters, Kasey Chavez and Sabrina Schultz (Noel); great-grandson Christopher Schultz; five brothers, Ruben (Delpha), Richard (Cissy), George (Licha), Ray (Mona), and Ricky; four sisters, Tita Martinez, Janie Chavez, Sulema Chavez, Cindy Martinez (Ervey); and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation will held from 12:00 - 9:00 PM, Tuesday, December 3, 2013 at the Limbaugh Funeral Home with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 PM that same evening. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 3:00 PM, Wednesday, December 4, 2013 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Portland, TX. Interment to follow at Taft Memorial Park.
