On Monday, January 4, 2021, Juanita L. Moreno, loving wife, mother, and grandmother passed away at the age of seventy-eight. Juanita was born on September 15, 1942 in Sandia, TX to Ricardo and Justa Leal. She completed her education at Orange High School and worked as a home health aide for many years before retiring. On September 5 ,1965, she married Manuel T. Moreno. They raised two daughters, Muriel Key-Moreno and Malissa Mendez.
Juanita enjoyed being outdoors and caring for her garden and soaking in the sunshine. She loved sitting outside and sipping coffee, any time of the day, while chatting with friends or family. She cared deeply about the well-being of those around her and was a kind and generous person to her family and loved ones. She enjoyed getting her hair done, dressing up, and having sweet bread and coffee with visitors. She also liked staying up late and watching Lifetime movies, telenovelas, the QVC channel with her grandchildren.
Juanita was preceded in death by her father, Ricardo, and her mother, Justa, and her siblings Candelario Leal, Elvira Moreno, David Leal, and Justa Vega.
She is survived by her husband, Manuel, her two children; Muriel (Maria) Key-Moreno and Malissa (Richard) Mendez, her four grandchildren; Melanie (Soran) Balak-Mendez, Muriel Mendez, Adrian Mendez, and Marisol Mendez, her siblings; Eurbana (Carlos) Estringel, Cecilia Guerrero, Librado (Tina) Leal, Jose (Lucia) Leal, Ricardo Leal Jr., Roberto (Delmira) Leal; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Pallbearers: Doran Balak, Richard Lee Vega, Robert Lee Vega, Orlando Vega, Adrian Mendez, and Ricardo Leal III.
The viewing will be held at the Dobie Funeral Home in Mathis, TX on Sunday, January 10, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. for family, and at 2:00 p.m. for the public. The rosary will follow
on Sunday evening at 7:00 p.m. at Dobie Funeral Home in Mathis, TX. Mass will be held at the Sacred Heart Church in Mathis, TX at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, January 11, 2021,
followed by the burial that will take place at 2:00 p.m. at the Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery.
Face Covering are required per Governor Abbott.
