Kathleen (Kathy) Hamilton, beloved wife, mother, and “Nana”, passed away after an extended illness on October 15, 2023. She was born on February 5, 1949, in Houston, TX, to Frank and Claire Woodard. After graduating from Richard King High School in Corpus Christi, Kathy began studies at the University of Texas in Austin and completed her Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education at Texas Woman’s University. During her teaching career, she pursued her Master of Science degree in early childhood education from Corpus Christi State University.
During her teenage years, her family attended Parkdale Baptist Church in Corpus Christi. Kathy loved to sing and was a faithful youth choir member at Parkdale Baptist, where she met her future husband, Rick. They were married in that church in 1969 and celebrated their 54th anniversary this year. She faithfully served her Lord and supported Rick in various music ministries in Little Elm, Crosby, Baytown, Portland, and Calallen.
Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Claire Woodard and sister-in-law Luci Woodard. She is survived by husband, Richard Alan Hamilton of Portland, TX; sons Mark Edward (Jennifer) of Cypress, TX; Keith Wayne (Christie) of Midland, TX; Todd Alan (Cherish) of Katy, TX; brothers Scott (Luci) of Denver, Rodney (Patty) of Charlotte, NC; sister-in-law Janice Friesen of Portland, TX; grandchildren Madison and Mason Hamilton; Rachael, Ryan, and Kathryn Hamilton; and Breeleigh and Aleighna Hamilton; and nieces Paige (Barry) Schultz and Payton Woodard, and grandniece Carter Schultz.
A memorial service is scheduled to take place Saturday, October 21, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church, 3115 Ocean Dr, Corpus Christi, TX 78404. The family will be available to visit at 10:00 a.m. A reception will follow the service.
