He was born on October 27, 1944 in Mathis, Texas to Librado and Petra Castro.  Lee lived a life marked by devotion to family, service to his country, and a deep appreciation for the simpler joys of life.

A proud veteran, Lee served in the United States Marine Corp and was recognized for his bravery and commitment with several medals including the National Defense Medal, Bronze Star Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Purple Heart Medal, Rvn Cross of Galantry, and the Combat Action Medal. His military service was a testament to his character and dedication, qualities that endeared him to all who knew him.

Family was central to Lee's life. He is survived by his wife, Genoveva Castro;  daughter, Mary (Armando) Perez. Lee was a doting grandfather to Christina, April, Miguel, and Veronica, and cherished the moments spent with his thirteen great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters, Maria Conception Gutierrez, Elvira Treviño; and brother Claudio Castro, as well as numerous nieces and nephews whom carry forward his legacy of love and support.

Lee is preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Herlinda Castro; sisters, Herlinda Hudson, Joaquina Garibay, along with his brother, Edwardo Castro, and his great-granddaughter, Jacqueline Sanchez. Their absence is felt deeply but their memories continue to inspire those who remain.

An avid fan of scratch off lottery tickets, Lee had a knack for finding enjoyment in life’s small pleasures, further enriching the lives of those around him with his humor and warmth.
