Lelwyn Troy Martin

Lelwyn Martin, age 87, passed into eternal rest on Thursday October 3, 2024 with his family by his side. He was born on July 4th, 1937 in Sandia, Tx. To Weldon and Margaret (Gorbet) Martin. He was preceded in death by his father, Weldon Martin. He is survived by his mother, Margaret Sandell of Orange Grove, Texas, his beloved wife of 65 years, Jessie Mae Martin of Agua Dulce, Texas, brother Melwyn Martin (Billye) of San Patricio, Texas, son Wade Martin (Nannette) of Agua Dulce, Texas and daughter Delene Glasscock (J. D.) of Columbus, Texas. He is also survived by his grandchildren, John David Glasscock, Andrew Gus Glasscock, Sarah Grace Glasscock, Matthew Colter Martin, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was a life long member of the Agua Dulce Baptist Church. Lelwyn began his career with Coastal States Crude Gathering in the gang and went on to be Meter Proving Technician when he retired after 37 years of service. Some of his favorite childhood memories were time spent at Rancho Perdido working on the dairy with Grannie May and Grandpap, and hunting and exploring with his brother, uncles, and all of his cousins. Bubba enjoyed raising coon hounds and hunting with his brother and friends. He later enjoyed bass fishing at the lake and traveling to the mountains in his fifth wheel with his family. Grand Teton being his favorite. In 2000 he completed his high school dream of traveling to Alaska pulling his fifth wheel camper. 

In his later years he enjoyed working on his property with his dozer and backhoe. He always had a project going. In his quiet time he enjoyed reading old western novels, nature, sunrises, sunsets, and tried to never miss a full moon’s rising. The family would like to thank the staff at Christus Spohn Stroke Center ICU and PAM Specialty Hospital of Corpus Christi Bayfront for his care. 

A service of remembrance will be held at Winstead’s Funeral Home in Mathis, Texas on Saturday, October 19, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. J.D. Glasscock officiating . A family burial will be held at a later date . In lieu of flowers the family would ask that donations be made to the American Stroke Foundation or Pebble with Ripples in Orange Grove.
