Leroy Cantu

Leroy Cantu, a beloved family member, skilled plumber, and cherished friend, passed away on February 2, 2025, in Mathis, Texas, at the age of 47. He was born on September 7, 1977, in Taft, Texas, and grew up with a strong sense of family and community, values that remained close to his heart throughout his life.

Leroy graduated from Mathis High School and pursued further education, eventually becoming a highly skilled plumber. His dedication to his craft was marked not only by his technical abilities but also by his unwavering commitment to helping others. Leroy was known for his warm spirit, always willing to lend a hand, and for his exceptional sense of humor that brought joy to those around him. He had a unique ability to make people laugh, a gift that endeared him to friends and family alike.

He is survived by his sisters, Rosalinda (Robert) Herrera and Angie Jimenez, as well as his brother, Lorenzo (Dalia) Cantu. Leroy was a loving uncle to numerous nieces and nephews, who will carry his memory in their hearts.

Leroy was preceded in death by his parents, Jose M. Cantu Sr. and Elda Peralta Cantu, and his brother, Jose M. Cantu Jr. His passing leaves a void that will be felt by all who knew him, but the memories of his laughter, love, and willingness to help will forever be cherished. Leroy Cantu will be deeply missed, but his spirit will live on in the lives of those he touched.

Memorial Service for Leroy will be at 5:00 pm and Holy Rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm on Monday, February 10, 2025 at Winsteads' Funeral Home in Mathis, Texas.
