Leta Ellen Ryman was born in Jacksboro, Texas, to James A. and Lena Boone. At the age of 11, Leta accepted Jesus as her savior during a revival service held in Olney, Texas. Leta would marry the love of her life, Bobby Ryman, on June 28, 1947, and would stay married for forty years until his passing in 1987.
As a young couple, they lived in several places including New Orleans, Amarillo, Brownsville, San Antonio, and Lake Worth before settling in Portland, Texas. Leta enjoyed traveling to Alaska, Hawaii, Israel, Rome, the Panama Canal and numerous other destinations. She stayed active with family activities of quarter midget racing and boating, as well as gardening and yardwork. Leta loved playing games, and could often be found gathered around the table with family and friends. Leta’s laugh was a contagious one, as she could get the entire room laughing with a good story or joke.
Leta spent much of her time giving back by volunteering at her church and Driscoll Children’s Hospital. She was such a dear friend and example of unconditional love to so many. Her inspiration impacted all she came in contact with, and she will be greatly missed by all.
Leta is survived by her children: Fred Ryman and his wife Debbie; Judy Youngblood and her husband Eddie.
Grandchildren: Trisha Beth Linn, Caleb Ryman, Katy Stavig, Jo Beth Crank, Logan Ryman, Kaylee Youngblood, Ty Youngblood, and Cody Youngblood.
Twin Sister Lela Osborne and numerous great-grand-children, nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents James and Lena Boone, as well as siblings Joe Boone, Annie Mae Duncan, Harvey Boone, and Laverne Pino.
