Linda Marie Mitchell

Linda Marie Mitchell was born on December 29, 1945, in Temple, Texas and passed away peacefully after a long illness on August 4, 2023. Visitation will be held from 8:30 AM to 9:00 AM, Monday, August 7, 2023 with the funeral service commencing after visitation, at 9:00 AM at Winsteads’ Funeral Home, 500 Wildcat Drive, Portland, Texas 78374. Burial will be held after the service at approximately 10:00 AM at The Palms Memorial Gardens, 4335 CR 3567, Portland, TX 78374.

Linda graduated High School from Temple, Texas and then eventually moved to Corpus Christi, Texas where she married and had her two children. She had a long career with over 30 years working for a Stevedore/Shipping Company where she retired from in 2021. Linda had a green thumb and loved spending time working on her flower beds. She enjoyed the simple pleasures of spending time at the Frio River with family and friends, fishing and her movies. Her grandson was her pride and joy and she never missed any opportunity to attend all his activities.

Linda was preceded in death by her father Billy W. Taylor, mother Frances J. Villines, step-father Edwin Villines, brother Eugene W. Taylor, and son, Johnny Lee Mitchell, Jr. Survivors include her daughter, Jaren Mitchell Savage, son-in-law, Trey Savage, grandson, Jacob M. Davidson, step granddaughter, Jimi Savage, sister Cheryl Mayfield, brother-in-law, Don Mayfield, her nieces April Mayfield, Larissa Mayfield, Cynthia Taylor Zimdars, and Cathy Taylor Ivans, as well as great nieces and great nephews, all of whom she treasured and adored.

We celebrate Linda’s life, and though she will be deeply missed, we take great comfort in knowing she is no longer suffering and is reunited with her loved ones and Savior Jesus Christ.
