Louis Alexander “Brad” Bradfute, age 85, passed away on April 11, 2022. He was born on January 26, 1937 to Gladys and Mabel Bradfute in Mathis, Texas as the sixth of eight children. He was raised in Lagarto, Texas, attended school in Largato and graduated from George West High School. Brad was with the Department of Public Safety for eleven years going from Highway Patrol, to Intelligence Agent, to Texas Ranger Pilot, to Senior Pilot and commissioned as a Special Texas Ranger. He had a second career as a Corporate Lear Jet Pilot with licenses to fly thirteen different types of jet aircraft and also as an Independent Oil and Gas Operator. Brad had many experiences throughout his lifetime that he enjoyed sharing with all of his family and friends. Brad was a loving husband, father and grandfather that will be dearly missed. He is preceded in death by his parents, all of his siblings, and his wife of 57 years, Edris Jennings Bradfute. He is also survived by his son Robert Wade (Jan) Bradfute and family of Kyle, Texas; Cathleen Melton and family of New Braunfels, Texas; Jana (Jim) Williams and family of Lubbock, Texas; Robert (Sandy) Bradfute of Austin, Texas; Stacy (Cliff) Dickson of Corpus Christi, Texas; grandson Matt (Lauren) Bearden and family of Corpus Christi, Texas; and grandson Chase Dickson of Houston, Texas. Services will be conducted at Dobie Funeral Home in Mathis on April 14, 2022, at 4:00 p.m. with visitation beginning at 2:30 p.m. No graveside services will be conducted. The family is very grateful for the love and support from Sue Bickham during the past year with Brad. Appreciation is also given to Visiting Angels and Brookdale Corpus Christi. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
