Loyce Irene Wylie

Loyce Irene Wylie went to be with Jesus on June 4th, 2023. She was born on October 22nd, 1931, to Fern and Jack Knioum, in Mountain View, Oklahoma. At a young age, her family moved to Corpus Christi, Texas.

After graduating from Corpus Christi High School, in 1949, Loyce attended Del Mar College where she studied art, color design, and fashion design. While attending Del Mar, she worked at Lichtenstein's Department Store and Thomas Spann Clinic’s switchboard.

In 1951, Loyce married Bobby Joe Wylie. They raised their family in Corpus Christi and Portland, Texas. She loved children and enjoyed working with preschool children at Park Avenue Day School in Corpus Christi, and the preschool at First Baptist Church. She often said her greatest calling was to be a wife, mother and homemaker. She attended Baptist churches throughout her life, with First Baptist of Portland being her last place of membership.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Joyce, and her beloved husband, Bobby. She is survived by their four daughters: Kathy Harper (Richard), Lori Puckett (Terry), Linda Carlin (Chris), and Marilyn Wylie. She was blessed with eight grandchildren: Rebekah Lauck, Joseph Harper, Stephen Benjamin Harper, Amber Kirkpatrick, Christopher Patrick Carlin,

Anthony Carlin, Joshua Haynes and Heather Tollett. She was doubly blessed with sixteen Great-grandchildren. Her family marveled that she could recall every birth date of her children, grandchildren, and the “greats”, even at age 91.

Visitation will be held from 9:30-11:00 a.m. Monday, June 12, 2023 at Winsteads’ Funeral Home in Portland, with the funeral service to begin at 11:00 a.m. Burial will take place at 1:00 p.m. that same day at the Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery; 9974 IH 37 Access Road, Corpus Christi, TX  78410
