Luis Garza, Jr.

Luis Garza, Jr., loving husband, cherished father and grandfather, and humble man of God, went home to God and to be reunited with his loving wife, Maria Luisa on October 24, 2022. He was surrounded by his family.

Luis lived many lives. He was a proud veteran, having served his country between the Korean and Vietnam Wars.

Luis was an avid artist. Even if his paintings never hung in art museums, they were appreciated by all those fortunate to lay eyes upon them. His paintings often captured scenes from nature and his lifetime of work in the oil business. These masterpieces will be cherished in perpetuity.

Luis studied engineering at Texas A&I University. While there, he met his sweetheart who he encountered at a dance. They caught each other’s’ glances and never, ever lost sight of each other even after Luis lost his loving Maria Luisa, after 52 years of marriage in 2020.  She remained an image ingrained in his memory and heart.

Luis and Maria Luisa had three children: Lila Michelle, Jennifer, and Laura. Even as adults, they now find themselves orphans—a pain never dependent on age. They were devoted to him. He was the center of their universes.

Luis was a proud grandfather to Mackenzie, a student of biochemistry at Texas State University. He also doted on all of the animals taken in by his family throughout the years and treated them as family members.

The family takes tremendous consolation in the fact that Luis and Maria Luisa felt very much in their hearts and very much in their faiths that they would see each other again.

Were Heaven to publish a daily newspaper, today’s headline would simply say, “Heaven welcomes a good man.”
