Manuel M. Ozuna Sr.

Manuel M. Ozuna Sr., a cherished resident of Mathis, Texas, passed away on November 30, 2024 at the age of 64 at home. Born on December 4, 1959, in Mathis, he was a lifelong member of the community, where he was known for his dedication to family, hard work, and kind spirit.

Manuel was a loving husband to his wife of 45 years, Maria Teresa "Mary" Ozuna. Together, they raised a beautiful family that includes daughters Monica (Marty) Cuellar, Marisa (Edward Sr.) Montemayor, Melissa (Joe Matthew) Gutierrez, and Marivel (Victor Sr.) Juarez, and son Michael (Kristy) Ozuna Sr. His legacy continues through his 23 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren, who were the joy of his life.

Throughout his life, Manuel demonstrated a commitment to hard work, providing for his family with unwavering perseverance. He had a deep love for the outdoors, particularly enjoying hunting and fishing, which allowed him to connect with nature and indulge in activities he loved. Manuel served his community as a voluntary fire fighter. He also dedicated much of his time to Sacred Heart Catholic Church, he served as a Cursillista, actively contributed by helping with events like Jamaica, and was a proud member of the Knights of Columbus. 

Manuel is survived by his dear siblings: sisters Blanca Ozuna, Susan Perez, Emilia Ozuna, and Rosalinda Johnson, brothers Gregorio Ozuna Jr. and Richard Ozuna. His passing is felt deeply by numerous nieces and nephews who cherished their Uncle Manuel.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Gregorio and Francisca M. Ozuna Sr., his son Manuel Ozuna Jr., sister Dominga Moreno, and his in-laws, Manuel and Guadalupe Aguilar.

Pallbearers: Marty Cuellar, Edward Montemayor Sr., Joe Matthew Gutierrez, Victor Juarez Sr., Gregorio Ozuna Jr., and Richard Ozuna.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during the visitation at Winsteads' Funeral Home in Mathis on Friday, December 6, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM.  Visitation will be continued from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 PM. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 7, 2024 beginning at 10:00 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, concluding with interment at Cenizo Hill Cemetery at 11:00 AM.

Manuel M. Ozuna Sr. leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and dedication that will forever resonate in the hearts of those who knew him. His memory will be cherished and honored by his family and all who had the privilege of sharing in his life.
