Margot Dallas Walker Duran was received into God’s loving arms on Thursday, July 5th, with her family by her side. Margot was born on February 24, 1938 in San Antonio, Texas to George and Laredo (Ingle) Walker. Her life was a testament to her nurturing spirit, always putting the needs of others before her own. Margot was the epitome of beauty and grace, showing kindness to everyone she met.
Margot was married to Vito Duran, who she fell in love with 70 years ago, at the age of 16. They married in 1957 when she was 19 and shared 67 beautiful years together, a partnership built on deep love and unwavering support. Together, they raised four children in Portland, Texas - Karen, Jeff, Susan and David.
Margot’s most cherished moments were spent with family and she created a home filled with love, warmth, and comfort, where everyone felt welcomed and valued. Through the decades, the home that Margot and Vito created remains the heart of the family, a gathering place where love is nurtured and history is treasured. It’s where they shared stories of the past, children and grandchildren played in the backyard, and the scent of homemade meals filled the air. Each room is filled with memories: laughter, the warmth of holiday celebrations, and the quiet comfort of family bonding. Margot seemed to effortlessly make this magic happen, because seeing her family happy brought her so much joy.
She loved gardening, Texas wildflowers, cooking, baking, nature and reading. She had a deep passion for animals, with a special fondness for dogs and birds. Buddy, a terrier mix they adopted, brought her so much joy. Her love for creatures great and small was a reflection of her gentle and compassionate heart.
Margot's legacy is one of selfless love and care, a life dedicated to nurturing those around her. She leaves behind a family who will forever miss her beautiful soul but who will carry forward her spirit in their hearts and actions. She will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by all who were fortunate enough to know her. May her soul rest in eternal peace.
She is survived by her daughter Karen Cacciapaglia (Peter), Jeff Duran (Anita), Susan Bales-Erwin and David Duran (Stephanie), grandchildren Joseph Cacciapaglia (Mandy), Dominic Cacciapaglia, Kendall Fox (Andrew), Madeline Hetzel (Thomas), Kia Duran (fiance’, Donny), Claire Duran ( fiance’, Kai), Nicolas Duran, great-grandson Henry, and three more great-grandchildren on the way, sister Elizabeth Hope, a nephew, several nieces and many loving friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Vito Duran and her half-sister Helen A. (Walker) Deckert.
We would like to express our heartfelt appreciation to Dr. Jude Aririrguzo, the nurses and staff at Post Acute Medical Hospital. We will be eternally grateful to Dr. Haun, nurses Heather, Jennifer, Kim, CNA’s Connie, Maria and Lulu, the Physical Therapists at Gulf Pointe Rehabilitation in Rockport for the genuine love, care and constant encouragement they gave our mom each day.
