Marjorie M. Abner

Marjorie DeNaut Abner (Mimi) - passed away May 1, 2013. Marjorie came into this world on April 13, 1911 in Hamlet, Indiana. She lived a full life with lots of love, happiness, family and friendship. Marjorie loved to play the piano, write poetry and paint. She was the author of the bestselling book "You Look So Young For Your Age: What's Your Secret?" written when she was 99 years old and her piano CD "Why Angels Have Wings" recorded when she was 100 years old. She came of age during the depression but enjoyed her flapper days of the 1920's. She studied at Northwestern University. She worked at many things in her life including running a beauty salon, working as a proof reader and bank teller, playing piano in the night clubs and owning a gift shop. She lived many of her life dreams including visiting Paris, France for her 100th birthday where she toured extensively. She played piano locally for the New Neighbors League for the last 15 years and even played at the Towne Club two weeks ago on the occasion of her 102 birthday, an event covered by the media. She was truly a "one of a kind" and will be sorely missed.
She is survived by her niece Lanette Hall (nee LaGrange) and Lanette's husband Daniel Hall and their children Jamey Hall and Jeremy Hall.
Services will be held at 2:00 pm Sunday, May 5, 2013 at the Limbaugh Funeral Home in Portland, Texas.
