Martin "Earl" Martin

Martin “Earl” Martin of Portland, Texas passed away September 27, 2023 at the age of 84, after a short illness. He was a caring and supportive husband, father, grandfather, and brother.

Earl was born in Poteet, Texas. His family moved to Pleasanton where he graduated from Pleasanton High School in 1957. He enlisted in the Navy and served from 1957 – 1961. He attended Trinity University and then the University of Texas where he earned a degree in electrical engineering. He was employed at Reynold’s Metals – later Alcoa – from 1968 – 2002. His last position was Superintendent of the Powerhouse. He was also a registered engineer of the State of Texas.

Earl married Mildred Slack in 1973, and they recently celebrated their 50^th anniversary.

He is survived by his wife Mildred; 2 sons Gary (Angela), Glenn (Mariko); 4 grandchildren Sakura, Alice, Ainsley, and Easton; and one sister Lola Howard.

He will be dearly missed! A memorial ceremony will be scheduled in the future in Pleasanton.
