Mary Christine Gawlik, 96, passed away November 11, 2021. She was born February 1, 1925
to Frank and Josephine Hlavik in Orange Grove, Texas. She is preceded in death by her
Parents; Husband, Alvin, Sr.; Daughter, Frances Jones; Son, Bobby Gawlik; Brothers, Joe
Hlavik and Frank Hlavik; Great-granddaughter, Savannah Heausler; and Great-great-
grandson, Hunter Mashore.
She is survived by her Sister, Lillie Zieger; Sons, Alvin, Jr. of Lubbock, George (Sandy) of
San Antonio, and John of Mathis; Daughters, Kathy (Charlie) Harris of Corpus Christi, Joyce
Bealer of New Orleans, Louisiana, Nancy Poris of Mathis, and Daughter-in-law, Natalie
Gawlik of Houston; Grandchildren, Robbie, Becky, Paula, Cory, Tomica, Kim, Jason, Sheila,
Susan, Sharon, James, Mia, Stephanie, Bradley and Konstantin; numerous great-
grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and great-great-great-grandchildren as well as
several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Charlie Heausler, Ron Roemer, Josh Roemer, James Clark, Todd Young,
and David Morton.
Visitation will be 6-7 p.m. Sunday, November 14, 2021, followed by a Rosary at 7 p.m. at
Dobie Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m., Monday, November 15, 2021, at St. John
of the Cross Catholic Church at 200 S. Metz St. in Orange Grove, Texas. Interment will
follow at St. John of the Cross Cemetery in Orange Grove.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made in Mary’s honor to St.
Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 (stjude.org)
