Mathew Picarazzi, a beloved son, brother, uncle and friend, passed away on May 5, 2024 in San Antonio, Texas at the age of 26. He was born on May 23, 1997 in Corpus Christi, Texas, and spent most of his life in Rockport, Texas. A Rosary was recited on May 8, 2024 followed by a Mass at Winsteads’ Funeral Home in Portland, Texas, and burial at Rockport Cemetery that same day. A tree will be planted atop the grave by the family in memory of Mathew.
Though he was young, Mathew left behind a lasting impact on many lives around him. Whether by friend or acquaintance, he was known to be a kind, loving and playful soul who constantly inspired laughter, bringing joy to everyone around him through jokes, puns and good company.
Loyal and genuine, he attracted all kinds of people, forged deep connections with many, and was fiercely loved by all his family and friends. He found joy in simple pleasures such as day-long Dungeons & Dragons sessions, coordinating regular Magic: The Gathering parties, weekends playing League of Legends with family, long karaoke nights surrounded by friends and reciting SpongeBob SquarePants quotes at precisely appropriate times.
Mathew graduated from Rockport-Fulton High School and attended multiple colleges in pursuit of a Computer Science degree; he was an exceptionally intelligent student, excelling in Math and other logic-related subjects.
He will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of crossing paths with him. Mathew is survived by his parents, Jean-Louie Picarazzi and Teresa Veiss Picarazzi; brothers: Jason (Mary), John Paul (Mari), Joseph (Eva), James (Lorraine) and Joshua (Alicia); sisters: Stephanie (Mario) Gomez, Francesca (Cristián) Romo and Gabriel Picarazzi; and numerous aunts, uncles and niblings.
Mathew’s legacy is one of spontaneous laughter, strong devotion to friends and family and a reminder not to take life too seriously. A cherished uncle, little brother to many, and friend and confidant to so many more, Mathew’s legacy will forever live on in the memories and stories shared by those who were fortunate enough to have known him.
