Myra Jane McCrary, of Portland, Texas went to be with the Lord on November 21, 2015. Myra was born on December 29, 1940, in Three Rivers, Texas. She is the daughter of the late James and Gladys Alston. Myra had six siblings, brother, the late Charles Alston and sister, the late Laverne Beyer. She is survived by brothers, Hurshell Alston of San Marcos, Texas and Norman Alston of Sweeny, Texas; sisters Goldie Holland of San Antonio, Texas and Carolyn Bremer of The Woodlands, Texas.
On September 5, 1959, she married the love of her life, Winston Wayne McCrary. They shared a beautiful life together for 56 years. Together they had two children, son, Jerry Wayne McCrary of Victoria, Texas, Lisa McCrary of El Campo, Texas and their daughters, Kayla and Kara, daughter, Lori Lynn Wilson (Lloyd) of Portland, Texas, and their children Hannah and Jake.
Myra graduated from Miller High School in 1959. She was a true Buccaneer, keeping close bonds with her classmates. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Portland, Texas for 39 years. There she served her Lord as long as she was able. Myra was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 1994. She was a dedicated worker for San Pat County as a county clerk for 19 years. Through the years, she spent many hours volunteering with her children and grandchildren’s activities. Myra was a compassionate and caring wife, mother, sister and friend. She cared and loved deeply not only for her family, but for her close friends. She was admired by many for her endearing qualities and courage to live each day to the fullest despite her limitations.
A viewing will be held Friday, November 27, 2015, at Limbaugh Funeral Home in Portland, Texas from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. Services will be held on Saturday, November 28, 2015, at First United Methodist Church in Portland, Texas at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Palms Memorial Gardens in Portland, Texas. A gathering of friends and family will follow the burial at FUMC.
We would like to thank the staff of Windsor Nursing and Rehab of Corpus Christi, Texas, where Myra spent the last three years of her life, for their devotion and care to her wellbeing. Also, all friends and family for support of Myra during the last few years.
